On Hardball with Chris Mathews last week Biden pretty much stated that action, with a capital A, against Iraq was pretty much inevitable at some point. I was surprised by what seemed to be his complete and utter conviction about this. Did anybody else see this interview.

I agree with CB on the Japanese bomb issue.

CB: In the three days between Hiroshima (August 6) and Nagasaki (August 9), there was plenty of time time for the Japanese to respond.

It took the Japanese five days to surrender (August 14), after Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki, should we have dropped a third bomb as well (rhetorical ?) It took another thirty one days before the War officially came to an end (Sept 2, 1945). While it’s true that after the first bomb Truman warned the Japanese to give it up NOW, the decision to drop the second bomb will always be controversial, much more so than the first.

CB: You can play "what if?" all you want, but you'll never have the real answer, so don't allow your imagination to convince you that your guess about what would have happened is the truth. Agree completely.
