I never used the words oppression or oppressive in this context. I did not claim that not allowing religion in public schools or for that matter allowing it wa oppressive. I believe the term I used was stepping on toes.

How much MORE oppressive to actually have kids praying or singing to a God they do not believe in?

I agree. Forcing kids to pray or sing to God if they do not believe in God is wrong and at least borders on oppressive. I might even conclude that it crosses that border and becomes oppressive depending on exactly what is meant by "forcing" in this context. If actual force, or threat of force, or threat of punishment is used to compel the student then it would be oppressive. If pressure short of force or punishment was used I would still call it wrong even if I don't call it oppression. However you can search my messages and you will not find an example of one where I suggested that students should be forced to pray or sing. I merely stated they should be allowed to pray or sing (silently pray or pray or sing out loud at the few times when it would not cause a disruption) by themselves or in groups, and that they should be able to wear a cross, or a t-shirt with religious writings or symbols (if t-shirts are allowed by the dress code), or draw pictures with religious themes or ideas when it is appropriate to be drawing pictures.
