>>i only commented on the ge/hon deal. how does that translate into "strongly implied the US has handed over all merger approvals"?

is this not what i said?

Earlier this year, the EU voted against GE's proposed $43 billion purchase of Honeywell amid concerns that GE could distort competition by using its financial arm to help sell its jet engines and Honeywell's avionics.
The rejection, which ultimately led the two companies to scuttle the deal, was a rare European veto of an all-American combination that had already won approval from U.S. antitrust enforcers.<<

actually, no it isn't. here is what you said...

>>this movement toward a one world order or global govt is not just a coincidence or being forced upon us. our politicians and business leaders are actively pursuing it. just like everything the govt becomes involved in, you have to nip it in the bud before it gets out of control and it's too late.

you want an example? how about a bunch of europeans telling american as apple pie GE that they couldn't acquire HON.<<

europeans most assuredly did not tell ge and hon they couldn't merge. sorry, craig, i can't let you run from this. they didn't tell ge/hon they couldn't merge. the phrase you chose says outright that europe had ultimate control - "TELL" & "COULDN'T". one tells their kids not to stay on the sidewalk. one does not give their kids a choice to stay on the sidewalk or get hit by a car in the street.

no, the europeans gave ge/hon a choice. "go ahead and merge. however, we believe our sovereign self interest is put in jeopardy by this deal so we won't allow the merged company into our markets. ultimately, the final decision is yours b/c WE CAN'T TELL YOU WHAT YOU CAN'T DO." big difference. perhaps you can choose your words better next time.

>>the example of the push toward globalization and a new world order is the fact that they can effectively block the deal.<<

craig, hello?!?!? they can block the deal b/c they have something that that ge/hon value. pure and simple. i guess YOU don't value it so ge/hon must be a

your words come off as...

you either want to tell europe what they can and can't do or you want to tell american corporations what they can and can't do (better you than the one world order, right craig? ;-) who else will save us from tyranny, but craig, knight of liberty! ;-)

YOU appear to want to BE the one world order and control everything in YOUR SELF INTEREST (remember, those that disagree with you are - fill in the blank with the traitor epithet du jur).

...but without really saying it clearly.

so, let's dig deeper here. would you FORCE europe to break up the eu or would you FORCE europe to buy ge/hon products against their will or both to resolve your beef? or, would you FORCE ge/hon owners out of the european markets and FORCE them to merge against their will in order for YOU to FEEL sovereign?

which is it, craig? who are YOU going to FORCE to do what in the name of freedom and liberty and your perceived sovereignty (hopefully, the absurdity of this rings a bell - loudly!)?

>>once again the suggestion is made that we need to pander to foreign interests. <<

nope. and neither do they, however much YOU want to FORCE them to do so in order to PRESERVE YOUR PERCEIVED SELF INTEREST. btw, craig, since you don't get it, ge/hon pandered to their own self interest and in a free country they ought to be allowed to do so - no matter how much YOU FEEL the NEED for them to do something else. start your own company and thumb your nose at europe if that will make you feel better.

>>we can't make our trading partners mad<<

yes, we can, if we choose to do so. btw, companies in the US aren't government (or craig) owned and controlled. there is no "we" in the ge/hon deal. sorry. you are not involved. your opinion means spittle. it is ge/hon who make the decisions and THEY made THEIR decision as they were FREE to do.

>>because they won't do business with us. so we cede more sovereignty to them and let them kill our deals, all because we need access to their markets.<<

no, the companies involved made a simple economic choice.

>>once again, i said we signed our sovereignty away. i never said the EU forced our country to enter trade agreements where we give the EU the right of veto<<

actually, ge and hon could still merge so they ultimately have control over what they do. they still have a choice. they haven't lost anything except access to another sovereign nation's markets b/c that group of nations is merely defending their perceived self interest - just as you want us to do so badly (actually, you want YOUR self interest defended).

iow, europe is doing EXACTLY what you want the US to do, right? act in a sovereign capacity and defend its self interest. hmmmmmm...
