'free fiber' is a way of putting it. of the world's fiberglass network capacity only 2% are "lit", and of this turned on capacity, only 10% is actually used. iow, we have a huge fiberglass white elephant malinvestment lying in the ground...my bet is that a lot more telco defaults are on their way, and presumably a few equipment providers will eventually also bite the dust.
