Yes it has nuclear weapons and so it projects power in that sense - but as an economy it is middling now. But in terms of belligerancy it yields to no one - it is truly a military nation - more so by tradition than the U.S., and losses in the field are more acceptable than in the U.S. post Vietnam. Interesting report in cursor.com that Russian forces are massing near Kabul with the intention of beating the U.S. to it. I guess the Taliban will take to the hills. The dropping of food parcels is being dismissed as propaganda - some of it is dropping in the minefields where 4 UN mine clearing personnel died today. A bloody mess with the allies making strategy on the cuff.
