I agree absolutely. I've had more than one conversation with jla recently, BTW, in which I've said that, out of a sense of propriety, I believe it is best right now for those of us who take issue with Pres. Bush to make those grievances in private.

In any event, we have followed a well- worn principle: that it is not up to us to determine the form of government for all of the nations with which we trade, it is for us to deal with the regimes "on the ground".

I can't disagree with that. I still feel, though, and with horrible hindsight, that we would do well to do some Monday-morning quarterbacking where this is concerned.

BTW, Have you, or anyone else here, read the article in this past Sunday's NYT magazine, entitled "This Is a Religious War"? I'm halfway through and it's extremely well-written. I'll look to post it if there's interest.
