A highly recommended reading. An essay by Edward Said in this week's issue of The Nation. A serious critique of the usefulness of Samuel Huntington's "conflict of civilizations" argument. Said can be maddeningly dense but not in this essay. He can also serve to provoke thought but only as one tries to argue against his points. This time, however, I find his points obvious to the point of the mundane. thenation.com John
