Every person does carry the weight of a world- whatever world they choose to imagine, is the weight they carry. I imagine a world that is a lot more than poor Norman's limited view. His was a limited and sentimental view of what he knew. It is quaint and charming in it's way- but it never was, and it never will be, the limit of the world- and I would not even wish that it were the limits of mine.
