Today's rant - Our "Allies"
I think that if India is so upset by what the U.S. is asking of them, maybe they should quit whining about how unfair this is and they should simply say "sorry U.S., we understand your position, but we are going to do what we feel is right for our people".
I wonder why India is getting so upset in the first place, so much so that our President should feel shame. HEY INDIA!!!! If you don't want to have anything to do with the U.S., just say "NO". Say no to cooperating with the U.S. about this OBL thing. Say no to trade, Say no to economic aid.
I am so sick of hearing how evil the U.S. is....how dishonest, the double standards. It is probably all true, but no more so than any other government. The middle eastern countries hate the influence we have on their culture, their economy etc.... did they ever think to say, "hey, you know what, we don't really need your money and we don't like the fact that your western culture is more attractive to our people, so we are not going to be selling you anymore oil". You want to know why? Because if they didn't trade their oil for our dollars, they would still be warring tribes living in the desert without any modern comfort. They chose to have a better life by trading their oil for our dollars. So fuck them when they complain about the influence the U.S. has on their lives. Turn off the oil, we will manage. Somebody else will sell it to us, we have a fair amount ourselves and we can invent our way around the problem in the long run. You bastards better think about what happens when we don't need your oil, better think about who you want to cultivate as a long term ally.
In a way, some of what people have said about the U.S. having brought this attack upon themselves is true. It is true in the sense that, even though these countries who hate us so much now, opened the door to us and benefitted from the relationship, if we had had a more isolationist policy, these attacks are not likely to have happened. But I think that it is about fucking time that these countries take a little responsibility themselves for their relationships with the U.S.
I am back to the mode of believing that the U.S. shouldn't be asking any country for anything. We should tell the people who we want to be our friends what are plans are and they should volunteer. We shouldn't even have to ask at this point.
Saudi Arabia should be saying - "heck yeah, use our worthless piece of arid wasteland as a base to run your operations, we understand that the US money and protection has allowed us to exist"
The countries of the EU should be saying - "Mais Oui, Ja, righty-O, we are going to aid with troops and intelligence, we remember what the U.S. has done for us in past agressions.
Israel should be saying - "heck yes, we get so much economic aid from you guys, we are glad to work with you in whatever capacity"
Pakistan should be saying - "look, we are in a tight bind here, we are dead no matter which way we turn, we are hoping that by throwing our hat in the ring with you guys, that when all is said in done, you can help us to rebuild this country as something other than a retreat for taleban sympathizers"
India should be saying - "yeah, we'll bear with you on the Pakistan problem, we are going to protect ourselves to any aggression, but we won't attack Pakistan until you are done"
And if they don't want to do these things, then they should just say "no". And the people who are whining about the double standards that the U.S. has should ask themselves why they haven't said "no". It is because there are more benefits to saying "yes". When y'all are ready to give up those benefits, that is when you will say "no". Until then, STFU cuz you too are participating in the decision to have the U.S. influence your lives. |
