Hi ts,

I see our ever-so-white friend Michael has been pulling X's braid again last night. Poor thing, he's never gotten over being excluded from the Kissy thread. Can you teach him how to play nice? Would you want to?

About this:

Instead any admission of guilt or failure by the US (especially) is seen as an excuse for no change or worse behaviour on their part, and possibly as a justification for demanding compensation, retraction or retreat by the West, or even revenge upon us...

They've already declared jihad and there's evidence that terrorist cells having been living amongst us for years, so I think the point about revenge may be moot.

My point last night was about serious self-examination of our foreign policy in the Gulf area vis a vis oil. We contributed to strengthening the stronghold of various extremists, bin Laden only one among them. I agree that public state-sponsored hand-wringing wouldn't be helpful, but we must learn from our mistakes and not make them again.
