<<How long are you holding most of your stocks? And do you hold more than two or three at one time?>>
I hold 8 to 15 stocks. Dell for 8 years. The others from 4 hours to 6 months
I sell for maybe three reasons.
1. If buying power goes down to less than desired, which occurs when I get carried away and buy too much
I will sell 1/2 of my position in 5 stocks today for that reason only, and will buy some HDI( hahahaha)
2. If the stock goes nowhere except sideways or down after I bought it ( happens often)
3. When I buy calls I often put in a sell at higher price 5 minutes later so some get sold.
4. If a stock splits, one should always sell. If its still OK for some time after the split, buy it back
( try that one on the last split of any tech-Qcom,Yahoo,Dell, Cpq, Intc, Msft. etc)
