08:22 ET Motorola (MOT) 16.72: -- Update -- On call, company lowers overall industry handset unit sales to 380-400 mln from 400-425 mln mentioned on Q2 call. Company establishes 2002 estimate at 420-460 mln. "Inventories have normalized."




08:21 ET TriQuint Semi (TQNT) 17.15: Merrill Lynch says recent channel checks in the wireless components business indicate that TriQuint has lost share in Samsung cell phones to RF Micro (RFMD 17.38) and in MOT phones to Maxim (MXIM 39.37); believes this could be beginning of a trend away from TriQuint's gallium arsenide receivers to RFMD's silicon geranium receivers.
