golfinvestor: Infrastructure is usually predicated on heavy Vendor Financiny. Qualcomm was not willing to threaten it's future to become an infrastructure provider of scale, because the amount of Vendor Financing that would be required to do so.. Just go pay a visit to LU or NT or MOT to find out what a good decision ditching the Infrastructure Division was..

On the other side.. If Qualcomm had infrastrucutre and UT's.. They could build CDMA2000 Base Stations for 3G Greenfield and Multi-mode GSM/CDMA2000 3G Greenfield spectrum.. The way it stands.. Their hands are mostly tied.. For the LU, NT, and MOTS.. It's a product that has no orders, or immediate prospects of such.. So there is no development.. Where as, Ericsson, NOK, ALA and others could build GSM 3G Greenfield Infrastructure as a "Garage Project"..
