Let's junk all of that stuff about democracy and civil liberties and individual conscience and freedom of religion, and instead introduce a caste system, with Brahmins (the priests) on top, and the other occupations beneath them, down to the Untouchables. Be sure to make it race- based, so that the darker you are, the lower you are, and don't forget to invoke the idea that one's lot in life is a result of karma. Or here's another good one: let's suppose that the Emperor is descended from the Sun- God, and that there is no greater duty than to die for him. Or maybe can make sure that women are covered head to toe, like the Taliban, and never educated. Or maybe we can reinstate slavery, like the Sudanese. Why should we be attached to all those funky Western European ideas, like the rule of law? |
