I think you are exactly right about this. I represent women who have been victims of assault by husbands, boyfriends, co-workers, and I always tell them -
- This isn't about you. He's got something wrong with him. - It's not your fault. - You didn't do anything to deserve this. - If it wasn't you, it would be someone else, because that's the kind of person he is. - He's just a sick, twisted creep.
Substitute OBL for the boyfriend/husband, and it's the same thing, IMO.
This isn't about us. OBL has something wrong with him. It's not our fault. We didn't do anything to deserve this. If it wasn't us, it would be someone else (France, Germany, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia) because that's the kind of person he is. OBL's just a sick, twisted creep.
