FWIW all major newspapers have carried letters and op ed pieces by people who try to explain how we "brought this on ourselves." If that were a clue, it would be a very bad clue. Some people always think the enemy is the guy who disagrees with them. Which may be the case- depending on how broadly they want to define enemy, and how many enemies they want to have. But for me, the enemy is hatred and intolerance and religious zealotry in the service of politics- wherever that may crop up, it is my enemy.
