I'm not concerned with the 98 percent of gun owners who are responsible. What concerns me is how readily those 98 percent howl and kick and scream whenever someone proposes going after the irresponsible bad-asses ... the 2 percent ... through tougher, more time-consuming background checks, for instance. Like I said: Much has changed/will change since Sept. 11. I would hope that the NRA would yield some on the issue of background checks, and other areas of concern, if our new security czar wants to clamp down on too many guns in a gun-crazed society.
