How very wrong. The hurt and disillusioned often escape to this country, if they can. Perhaps your own effete experience is only with the affluent of their societies, but the rest of us deal mostly with those who immigrated, whether because of political persecution, to seek economic opportunity, or otherwise. My clients who start each day at 5:30 a.m. to open their restaurants and work until 11:30 to close them will welcome you into their business regardless of your pseudo-intellectualism, naivety, and idealism, then belly-laugh while telling stories about you after you leave.

Maybe you teach your 3-year old a lot of swimming on the ground, but have you considered that maybe you're the one who's all wet?
