In my travels today I passed a PC out on the curb with a
bunch of other stuff from a store that went out of business,
so naturally I took it. The 15" monitor works fine, it's
always good to have an extra around. The PC has an AMD K6-
350, a 48X Creative CDrom, & 64MB SDram but no hard drive.
When I tried to boot it wouldn't post and I got continuos
beeps. My 2nd computer is a 233 MMX. It's 20X CDrom sticks
when opening and closing so I figured I'd use the CDrom
from the PC I found, MAJOR MISTAKE. Some how it killed my 233
which now gives me the same continous beeps as the PC I just
found :(
I stripped down the M/B to just the processor and the video
card and still got the continous beeps. Instead of spending
$50 on a new M/B I decided on a major upgrade. In Tigerdirect's
2nd to newest catalogue they had a FIC AD-11 M/B
(http://www.fica.com/products/motherboard/Socket462/AD11.stm)
and an AMD 1.2 GHZ, 266 MHZ processor for $220. I went for it
along with 128 MBs of DDR ram and a good fan. I should have
everything by Friday or Saturday night.

I was about to post this message a 1/2 hour ago then something
inside told me to try again and guess what? Yep, the old
233 is working again. I gotta see if I can find the beep
codes for an Asus TX-97E M/B. My assumption that it was
fried was apparently wrong. Tomorrow I'll work on bringing
the PC I found back to life. Anybody have any idea what
happened? As far as the new M/B and processor goes, I
wanted another Win 2K Pro or Win XP PC to network with my
933 and a 233 or 350 wouldn't cut it so I won't cancel the
order. I'll use the case from the AMD 350 I found if I
can't bring it back to life.

Happy Trails, SIfkaJB
