Afghanistan: What to Expect K.N. Rao All that was said when President Bush demanded "Osama bin Laden, dead or alive" seems to have cooled down now. I decided to look at the horoscope of Afghanistan again to see what to expect. I must make it clear that the basis is the Hindu New Year horoscope here. What appears starkly clear is what I am stating here first: 1. The change of government is certain . It can mean a violent end perhaps through death of the present Afghanistan rulers. Interestingly, according to a British newspaper, it is Osama bin Laden who is virtually the dictator of Afghanistan which explains why Taliban government cannot decide to hand him over to USA. It is not merely Osama and Omar, two people talked of most these days but someone else also who may be a religious figure who may die violently. 3. There is a clear possibility of it some of these deaths becoming dignified suicides in preference to getting caught. 4.Surprisingly, while the CNN has been talking of the poverty of the people of Afghanistan, and the fleeing refugees, it appears that financially, this country is going to gain immensely and very soon. We will see in the remaining six months of Hindu New Year how it will happen. I expect the bloodiest battles to take place after the transit of Mars in Makar which will be after October 18 and before the end of November 2001. It can be so soon as that. 5. I am not able to distinguish between Shias and Sunnis in the horoscope. It is, however, clear to me that there is something like a massacre of the religious leaders of both sects. 6.There is nothing resembling the Afghan resistance of 1979 which USSR remembered with bitterness. This time it is a resistance all right but not of heroic dimensions.
