<Does anybody have any idea how there could be a shortage of P4s?> There is no real shortage -- just look at PriceWatch. There is a Xmas and WinXP related overproduction of P4/SDRAM boxes underway. This house of cards will crash by the end of November. In addition, Intel is creating perception of shortages by putting parts on allocation, which creates panic and double booking. Intel routinely uses perception of shortages to coerce MB makers and OEMs into de-emphasizing AMD production. Kap
