Thanks for the tip, I didn't know I had to save the scheme. After saving as, do you need to reboot in order for the new sound settings to take?

Currently, with the windows default scheme, although certain sound events like new mail, or default beep are set to sounds I can play manually, they do not sound when the event takes place. Changing the sounds has had no effect. I tried assigning sounds to simple events like maximize window for easy testing, but they don't play when I initiate a maximize window.

I'll try rebooting with my new sound scheme later in the day after the market closes.
