I'll write at least one more message, if only to answer your question (hm, will I resist making a point or two of my own? nah). Islamicism is Daniel Pipe's term for the totalitarian Islamic fundamentalism espoused by the Taliban and Al Quaeda. Here's an article that explains the difference:

Thanks for the link, Nadine. I'll get around to reading it tonight. Got a life to lead during the day. (g) (You could hardly tell it by the number of posts I've made today.)

I think I saw Pipes on television the other night, forget which program. Was not enchanted by his views; much too one-sided on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. So it will be interesting to see what he says here.

As for your other points, the more we go back and forth the more I suspect we will agree (and be able to state fairly clearly where we disagree). You clearly have a problem with Said, the person. Fine. Not my problem. In fact, my view is much closer to the opposite. We agree about the dangers of casting the conflict as Huntington does. I'll read Pipes to see if he makes the same mistake, just using different terms.

Off to live a life.

John
