Because mistakes were made in the past, it is hypocritical to address them now? I disagree.

If a woman gives a man her phone number or address, and he turns out to be a creep, is it hypocritical of her to press charges if he harasses or rapes her?

If a business hires someone who later decides to come into the office and go postal, is the business hypocritical to (a) want to punish that person; or (b) try to prevent it from happening again?
