I wouldn't say it's trite, but the American reaction is somewhat hypocritical. You know what, you are right! We shouldn't be taking any actions to protect against future terrorist attacks, we shouldn't make any attempt to dissuade the terrorist from flying more airplanes into buildings. The U.S. has made mistakes in the past and therefore they shouldn't do anything to protect the innocent people who are being targeted by the terrorists. Idjit
