EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL USED IN SEISMIC EXPLORATION IS REPORTEDLY MISSING FROM TEXAS
Source: ENL Oct 11 07:49

Seven hundred pounds of explosive material used in seismic exploration are reportedly missing from northeast Harris County, Texas. The Houston Chronicle reports, officials say it's too early to know if it is terrorist-related. AirJac Drilling Inc. says the "shaped charges" were taken between Saturday and Tuesday. An ATF spokeswoman tells the Chronicle, "It could be very dangerous (to others) if they (whoever has the explosives) know what it is and how to use it." Seismic charges, generally used for drilling and mining, usually come in different shapes and weights with a nonexplosive outer covering and explosive material inside. The explosives were discovered missing late Tuesday afternoon, and were kept in a rural area. The materials' owner, AirJac Drilling, has a Harris County, TX office, but does most of its business from New Iberia, LA. An AirJac employee at the Louisiana office tells the Chronicle only that the matter is being investigated.
