"Don't you think the sect thing is part of it?"

The sect thing has a big role in the violent history within and among the folk of the region. It is a serious local issue. Much of this has been repressed under Taleban rule. Now Osama et al are succeeding temporarily in providing a superordinate focus (against us) in dismantling the sectional rivalries. Win or lose, when he is done, this issue will flair up to create additional instability in the region. A side issue but serious no doubt.

The Northern Alliance is allied against the Taleban but will likely have problems staying allied once the Taleban are defeated.
