X, You are a teacher, aren't you? Do you hold the view that our public schools (elementary through H.S.) discriminate and hold a bias against minority children? Do you think this happens in universities? (If so, I would like to offer you some of my experiences as a professor in the University of Massachusetts system for 30 years). Do you (seriously) argue that minority applicants are denied jobs in our corporations strictly as a consequence of racial prejudice? Do you feel that the under-achievement of minorities in our society is primarily explained by racial prejudice which denies them equal opportunity, and that it has little or any connection to personal choices and home environment? Do you believe that Colin Powell could never become president, owing entirely to a racially biased electorate? Don't feel obliged to answer me if you don't feel like it. I ask these questions only in the interest of trying to understand your view of the society we both live in. JC
