I believe Pakistan's decision to 'stand in time of need with the victims' was courageous, despite what some may feel is simple buckling to international opinion and particular pressure from the US.

I also think the early actions of the US were just right, signaling that 'this time it is different'.

If Musharraf was influenced both by the atrocity of the attack and the quickly apparent grim determination of the US administration - so what, he/Pakistan made the right decision, and he will have gained a powerful ally in the fight against extremism within his own land. I hope he calls on the ally and finds them ever ready.

And I also hope that 'this time it is different' doesn't get diluted with the passage of time and achievement of interim goals.
