In 1979, when the US started giving covert aid to the Afghani mujahideen, OBL was 22. He was around but he wasn't important to us. We trained a lot of people - I don't know for a fact whether we trained him or whether he was trained by someone we trained or by someone in a camp somewhere in Libya or the like. Do you?

He became important to the Afghanis because he had a lot of money that he used to buy an army.
