I have invested in three related areas through v.c., p.p., or public e: 1. suppliers/processors of lithium battery raw materials; 2. power management device manufacturers; and 3. several lithium battery producers. I do not have a position either short or long in valence.

My goal is to make sure that I am making the best strategic investments possible. This is why I started this thread--I wanted to bring together as much info as possible about the industry. (the company specific threads were not doing this) So far it has not worked very well -- but I hope it will catch on. Things are changing so fast that it is hard for one person or research group to know everything about the industry (its just easier to assume someone does--less work) Worse yet, the companies themselves do not even know what is going on in their industry. (This becomes clear when you have talked with enough of them) As far as the specific holdings go -- I think I would certainly be hypocritical at this point if I were to start talking about them on this thread. (if I wanted to do that I should dedicate a company specific thread to each of them akin to valence's) More importantly though, I would like to keep these types of biases out of the discussion. This is also why I have never promoted or argued in favor of any of my holdings. I guess I am trying to use this forum as a check on myself -- to make sure that I have not overlooked any developments or companies or plays in this industry. I think I know why this thread has not produced the results I was expecting -- everyone wants the easy answer -- they want to believe there are no brainers, but if there were truely no brainers wouldn't everyone have bid the price up to full value? And thus if the price is fully valued your purchase of it would be irrational i.e. all the gains would already be in the price. My best investments have been those which were not obvisous at the time and which were not being "sold" around the investment community. That is where you find the 20 and 30 baggers.

I guess the better question would be: how do you think these companies stack up against each other and why do you think so? Are there any other ways to play this industry? Are there any threats that are not widely known (new small scale fuel cells etc)?
