Willcousa, let me know when Jerry gets to XP3000 so that he can proclaim to the world that AMD is the first company to get a model rating of 3000.
"AMD officials said in a press release earlier today that it took the processor industry more than 20 years to reach 1GHz, yet only 18 more months more to reach 2GHz. Now, in a matter of a month's time, AMD has performed the unthinkable, and finally released to a power hungry public the world's first model 3000 processor. This feat of engineering, according to AMD's CEO Jerry Sanders, was made possible through a better understanding of benchmarking. 'While some competitors aim to cut off our air supply, AMD has shown that we can continue to innovate. In only a few days time, our model 1800+ processor has gone through some rigorous testing, and results prove that it can outperform a competitor product rated at 3GHz, or 3000MHz.' Validation of these results was not readily available, but an industry analyst warned that AMD's model ratings may be out of control. 'Nonsense,' responded an AMD spokesperson, 'Our benchmarks are failsafe, and include such innovative and widely used applications such as SuperPI and RC5. We've done our homework this time, and competitors won't be able to catch up this time.' Intel was not immediately available for comment."
