Spiral: your points are well-made and I agree with the major intelligence failure at the Pentagon and the lack of operatives in the field.

As far as boxcutters, it's an interesting David vs. Goliath dichotomy we've seen before. Consider:

--Iran's WWI mines in the gulf a few years back, couldn't detect them
--Palestinian rock throwers; from a PR perspective, it makes a perfect set-up to gain sympathy

But on another note, the article I posted was satire from TheOnion.com, though it closely parodies the truth.
