Jill, might I recommend you think of it in these terms. A terrorist WINS is he can instill fear in our lives. For us to live this way is tantamount to surrendering our very substance as Americans to these murderous criminals. Sure, I'm being more cautious and weighing my actions more closely, but if I had to fly somewhere, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. The Israelis have been living with this kind of fear for decades now and they understand that life goes on... In fact, it must go on in order that we retain our self-respect and dignity.... Terrorism is a political statement, as well as an act of war by non-state "actors".. And that statement is no different than when a criminal tries to intimidate you into bowing to his will during a mugging or rape. Thus, for your own mental well-being, I recommend your trying to make living your life the way you had before a patriotic statement of defiance against anyone like OBL who wants us to cower in fear. Imagine, if you will, how the British felt as German bombers raided London on a nightly basis.. These people carried on as an act of defiance against the Nazis. And the British bomber forces retaliated in kind, terrorizing the German people in a massive battle of wills to the death. We'll get used to it. We have no other choice until the we have eliminated any ability or willingness for people like Bin Laden to intimidate us.. Hawk
