SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM INSTALLS CARMANAH SOLAR LIGHTS

Victoria, British Columbia – October 11, 2001 – Carmanah Technologies Inc. (CMH – CDNXis pleased to announce that the installation of over 400 units of its Model 601 solar L.E.D. (light emitting diode) navigation lights is underway in the Ha Long Bay and Hai Phong Harbour of Northern Vietnam.

The installation is the result of a contract awarded to Carmanah on July 12th, 2001 by the Vietnam Inland Waterway Administration (VIWA). The contract is part of Vietnam’s initial efforts to upgrade the illumination of its waterways.

Art Aylesworth, C.E.O. of Carmanah, states, “Significant opportunities remain for these types of modernization projects in the region. This initial contract provides confirmation that the performance, quality and reliability of our products are being recognized internationally. We are confident that we will successfully compete as additional tenders arise.”

To ensure the installation process progresses smoothly, Carmanah provided two weeks of comprehensive training at its Canadian manufacturing facilities for a delegation of field engineers and managers from VIWA. The training was completed on September 8th, 2001 and comprised all aspects of installation and operation of Carmanah’s marine lights.
