The first and the fourth work, the second and third do not.
So there is indeed a PPT. I guess they did the best they could beginning 9/17, but it still made for a very losing week, so their effectiveness might be questionable, don't you think? Perhaps the PPT made it more difficult for the hedge funds and short sellers to get "favorable terms" that week as the article said, but the big boys and we little people sold short anyway and so did foreign investors among others.
Nevertheless, I don't think we can ascribe every upturn since 9/21 to be the PPT at work. The big boys are quick to know an opportunity when they see it, and that could be very well what's happening (G/S for example) without any help from the PPT.
Now, the big question everyone on this board and elsewhere is wondering is how long this rally will this continue, whether it's the work of the PPT or not. We've all been burned in bear market rallies and learned from our lessons. Sooner or later, whether its the PPT or the big boys alone, they will see that it's time to quit. |
