A statement from the NY Times. NEW YORK – This morning Judith Miller, a reporter at The New York Times, received an envelope that contained a powdery white substance. The New York Police Department was called and is currently investigating the incident. Employees were moved from the newsroom on the third floor to other floors in the building while testing was done. The substance has been turned over to the authorities. The air in the newsroom was tested for radioactive and chemical substances. These tests were negative. Testing of the substance, which smelled like talcum powder, is underway. Results from this test are expected in approximately 12 hours. Newsroom operations are continuing as normal.
