I have not excused anyone in the context of this conversation. If the person's evil action was motivated by something other then evil intent the action is still evil and they still are responsible for it. When I use the term "evil person" I would not use it to mean someone who has committed evil or someone who should be held responsible for evil acts but rather someone who's character is on the balance evil. My point in saying that a person can commit evil acts without being an evil person is that there are other things besides evil motivation or character that can cause some one to commit an evil act. However even if the motivation was other then evil, the evil act is not excused and the perpetrator of it should face justice.

Why would you believe that "absolutists" can pick and choose what is absolute (what a ridiculous
conception!!!) and that relativists could not pick and choose what is "relative"?!!! New kind of
logic!? :-)

So do you recognize any moral or philosophical views as absolute? Could you call someone who had some absolute ideas a relativist?
