Provocation is an interesting topic. This thread has a long history of it, to say the least. There are always opportunities to take up the gauntlet, but one's reticence to do so WRT certain topics should be respected as well. I don't know if you've followed my conversation with Greg McRitchie, but I have been telling him I will not argue the finer points of my faith with him. And I will not discuss the finer points of my feminism publicly either. I also don't talk about my weight, so don't ask. -g
But Vietnam and Woodstock are over. Time (long overdue now) to free ourselves from past grievances and mind-sets and deal with America and the world as they are now.

I think intelligence in and of itself is greatly over-valued.
Yes, I agree, more so as I get older. kindness is at least as important, IMO, as intelligence.
