What makes your morality and patriotism so superior?
To suggest that anyone who drives an SUV is unpatriotic is absurd in the extreme. Allow me to highlight an example which brings home to point in crystal clarity for you...
Is that 20 year old special forces person climbing around the mountains of Afghanistan tonight, putting his life on the line for his country, unpatriotic because he enjoyes his family feeling safe and comfortable while he's away from home??
Tossing vile statements like that around is the height of anti-intellectualism and empty rhetoric. Your reasoning is deeply flawed.
If you want to make a case regarding use of higher gas-miliege vehicles, I suggest you remove the emotional rhetoric and attempt some critical thinking.
Allow me to ask a few questions as you begin this search.
1. If driving a gas guzzling SUV is unpatriotic, what level of MPG is patriotic. If I get 15 MPG driving an old beat up chevy van, I am just as unpatriotic? How about 25MPG is that unpatriotic? Do we ALL need to be driving vehicles which get 40MPG in order to meet your "patriotism" criteria?
2. Are all owners of boats, RV's, large trucks, planes, helicopters, race-cars, also "unpatriotic", because, those vehicles get poor gas mileage?
3. If gas mileage is the such an unpatriotic issue, shouldn't large homes which consume lots of energy also fall into the same catagory? After all, why should someone need a 4000 square foot home when 1500 square feet works just fine? |
