TONNAGE CALCULATION, SAMPLE RESULTS FOR KLIPSPRINGER BLOW June 24th, 1997
SouthernEra Resources Limited is pleased to announce the results of tonnage calculations and processing of bulk samples from the blow along the Sugarbird (Northern) Fissure at Klipspringer Project in South Africa (see Press Release November 19, 1996). The tonnage calculation is based on surface mapping and the results of more than 25 core, reverse circulation, and large-diameter percussion drill holes. The blow, which covers an area of approximately 55 by 45 metres at surface, is estimated to contain 90,000 tonnes of kimberlite to a depth of 60 metres. To date, 146 carats have been recovered from approximately 174 tonnes of kimberlite, taken from surface pits and drill holes (see table below). A number of stones larger than 3 carats have been recovered, and the average stone size is approximately 0.22 carat. The stones are mostly colorless and lack inclusions. Sample Tonnes kimberlite Carats Grade(carats/tonne) Surface pits 107.148.730.45 Drilling 0 - 5 m 5.7 8.031.41 5 - 30 m 56.786.741.53 30 - 100 m 4.8 2.560.53 Total 174.3 146.06 0.84 The Company is very encouraged by these latest results. As well, the recent success in locating new kimberlites at Klipspringer (Press Release June 19, 1997), and progress of the bulk sampling program at the Leopard (Main) Fissure, continue to add to the diamond resources on the project.
