please excuse drop in, but, i had just finished reading the linked article(see below) in the nyt when i read your post.
hussein, as a secularist, would normally be regarded as an infidel by bin laden, so, it's a very curious question as to the real relationship between al qaeda and hussein. the point in this excerpt notes a major but largely unremarked issue on the thread but it is on this knife edge that islamic power balances.
