Nadine, I have to disagree with one of your comments;

Hitler not only tortured his people, (if they didn't follow orders to the mark), he had general's executed, he had intellectuals killed, and there was always the threat of being taken out of a comfortable position and put on the front lines for disobedience, particularly if an Army officer crossed the SS.

Now I wasnt there of course, but this is allegedly common knowledge, much od which has been garnered from Hogan's Heroes, of course.
