I'm beginning to think that those who have given considerable thought to religious issues and have concluded that they are agnostic or atheist are often far more respectful of the rights of others than the religious among us.

I believe those that have given considerable serious thought to religious issues are probably more respectful of the rights of others whether or not they have determined they are an agnostic, and atheist, or neither. People who have examined the reasons for and the nature of their belief are less likely to be violently intolerant then those who accept it just because they are told to, or because they have had one emotional moment that made them convinced that further thought was unnecessary.
