Ancient historical facts mentioned are disputable and anyway irrelevant. In fact Palestine was always ruled by other people. The Greeks, the Romans, the Turks. Few records ever witness that it was ever ruled by the Jews except very briefly some time before Christ. But again this is irrelevant. I don't know what you would call a Turk, but he is not a Jew and these people ruled for 600 years until the British took over.

The main point that all these "facts" mentioned by the list you posted is to cover that people did not willingly leave their homes. There may have been a call by Arab leaders to abandon Jerusalem but it was in the face of military pressure by the Israelis and an untenable economic and social situation that these people were put under by Jewish rule. All the historical stuff before 1901 and all the questions about who left and why they left is a smokescreen. The lands were put under military pressure first by the British and then by the Jews. At no time did the Arabs have the upper hand. Jews leaving Arabic homelands? Where from? By very early in the game the Jews controlled most of the land. The PLO calling themselves Palestine did not occur overnight. That started with the Romans. The coined the phrase to piss off the Jews as it was analogous to the Phillistines their old greek enemies, who settled in Syria. I seem to recall it was a big issue before 1967. At any rate the matter of self determination is moot. People have made a big deal out the lack of Palestinian identity and the lack of absorbance by other Arabic states. That is cheap talk, a weak excuse for making someone homeless. It makes no sense to say that people don't deserve to own a house because they have not made a decision what to name their State after 600 years of Turkish domination. It was quite clear to the Romans that their was a Palestinian Arab identity. It is quite clear to the other Arab states. It was clear to the Palestinians when they tried to take over Jordan. They are a distinct people. If the are refugees then they had to be from somewhere. They just did not decided to leave Syria to be homeless in Jerusalem.
