Re: And what the world needs to face is the American people are p*ssed off in a way that hasn't been seen since WWII.. And they need to face the fact that, without the US economy remaining stable, a global depression faces the entire world.

And nobody, but OBL and his gang, truly desire such an outcome.

But such a result is quite possible, and that's probably making it much easier for the US to twist some arms politically.

You might have a point here... The first --and still unnoticed-- casualty of the 911 terror strikes is global trade. (Actually, the global economy was already in very bad shape and 911 merely turned out to be the "kiss of death") But then, what's the global economy besides the Transatlantic trade?? Indeed, trade and cross-investments between Europe and the US amounted to about 30% of the world's total economy, so far... Yet, Europe's domestic markets are slowly drifting into depression and, since most of the 911 terrorist leads have been traced back to Britain, France, and Germany, the transatlantic travel biz has been severly hampered. Hence, I believe that, somehow, the Trans-Pacific era has been kickstarted by the current terroristic havoc, that is, China and her Asian backyard will help the US get out of recession. After all, Beijing Olympics are scheduled in 2008, and Bush has been talking of a decade-long war against terrorism! Well, I'm afraid the Chinese will likely tell him that the whole shebang'd better be over by 2008.... Jiang Zemin --or his crown prince Zhu Jingtao-- just doesn't want Beijing to look like Pyongyang during the 2008 Olympics!
