Actually, do not the big bang, expanding universe, and the second law of thermodynamics all point to, and indeed demand, that the universe had a separate, and non-contingent cause? If this is so then it is quite likely that such an independent (outside of space and time) vantage point does indeed exist and would explain why we (humans) act as if there were.
