I cannot speak for Constant Reader, who does not appear to have posted at all since his post to you, but I can tell you that I found the post to which he was responding offensive, and deeply so. Others here did as well.

I think it's safe to say that there are a number of issues on which none of us are likely to change our minds. I think it's also safe to say that the majority of the people who post here regularly are respectful of gays and horrified by the way the law and society in general treats them. You struck a very raw nerve with that series of posts.
