I don't have a solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

One thing people don't talk about is the problem of the Temple Mount. That is a classic double-bind, zero-sum game. No compromise seems possible.

As I understand it, this is how it goes: religious Jews have been waiting for the Messiah for a long, long time. They pray several times a day for the Messiah to come. And the Messiah won't come until they rebuild the Temple. But they can't rebuild the Temple until God sends the prophet down to tell them where to rebuild it, and how to rebuild it, because they have forgotten how. And I don't think God is supposed to do this until He quits being mad at them for whatever they did. So this is also a classic case of what is called "immantizing the eschaton" - when God decides it's time, God can do all things, so why try to force the matter?

But apparently a lot of religious Jews believe that they should not wait for the prophet to come back, they should start building the Temple, i.e., "if you build it, He will come."

I am rooting for the prophet to come back - I don't know which prophet because it's not my thing - Ezekiel? Elijah? Isaiah? - and tell the religious Jews that the Third Temple needs to be built somewhere else. Maybe Lake Tahoe.-g-

BTW, I am saying this with a humorous tone, but I think it's very serious to both religious Jews and religious Palestinians.
