RIM announced earlier this year that they were working with Kasten Chase on a solution for the DMS (Defense Message System). blackberry.net

And I know the current Blackberry is already approved for DoD use. I'm not sure what this could be about, unless it's for a classified application in which case the security requirements are more stringent.
